Fibromyalgia Syndrome is a medical condition characterized by chronic and widespread pain and trigger point sensitivity. Fibromyalgia symptoms can also include, among others, prolonged fatigue, joint stiffness and sleep disturbance. In the past, fibromyalgia syndrome was not even considered a medical condition by most doctors, hospitals and insurance companies. People who suffered from the disease were forced to battle it without support and suffer without financial or medical assistance. Recently, fibromyalgia has become recognized as a legitimate medical condition so individuals may now be covered by disability insurance and can seek medical treatment.
However, there are still some people and institutions that do not want to recognize this condition because the exact cause of fibromyalgia is impossible to determine and it can be difficult to conclusively diagnose, particularly with respect to its severity, which can vary from person to person. When the cause of an illness cannot be pinpointed, insurance companies do not choose to recognize that it is a true disability. At Dietrich Law, we can help you as our lawyers have extensive experience with medical issues such as Fibromyalgia and we know how to defend your rights when dealing with insurance companies.
